Electrical structure of Gulu geothermal field in Southern Tibet and its implication for the high-temperature geothermal system

The Yadong-Gulu rift (YGR) South Tibet is a Cenozoic active rift, which endowed with abundant geothermal resources. Gulu field (GGF) located in the Northern section of where large number high-temperature hot springs develop, but its system mysterious. In this study, three-dimensional (3D) electrical structure GGF revealed by broad magnetotelluric (MT) and audio (AMT). MT reveals that middle upper crust conductors are developed subsurface GGF. may originate from partial melting drives system. AMT conductive alternation cap overlying more resistive reservoir, consistent classical systems worldwide tectonic zones. According to model, cold fluids converge periphery middle, wherein fault F1 (the Western branch Jiulazi-Sanxung fault) be main channel for migrate downward. heated crust, upward along F2 develop into heat reservoirs.
